Forest Care

A new approach to protecting and maintaining our community forests

A healthy forest is something we all want and can enjoy. Those of us living in woodland neighborhoods have a special responsibility to help the forest achieve the healthy balance that will sustain our mountain communities and lifestyle for generations to come.

Forest Care is the program that provides those of us living in the forest with the tools to make sure our small part of this important environment is cared for and is as healthy as possible.

If you have property smaller than 20 acres and can count more than 200 trees per acre over two feet tall on your land, then you qualify for Forest Care. For a timely response please call us at 1 (888) 883-THIN or complete the form below and we'll arange a free visit from a licensed professional forester to verify that you qualify and help you create your own custom Forest Care plan. There are just six easy steps to implementing your own Forest Care Plan.

The Forest Care partners, the National Forest Association and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, working under a grant from the USDA Forest Service, will reimburse you for up to 75% of the cost of implementing your plan.

Why Forest Care?

Forest Care is necessary because the fire-suppression policies that arose as people moved into the forest environment have led to an overstocked forest. Forest Care sets standards for thinning the trees on your property to healthy levels. This includes the elimination of low undergrowth that can act as a ladder for flames, spreading them from the ground to the forest canopy.

There are lots of great reasons for having your own Forest Care Plan. Click here to find out just five of them.
